about aDCC

The ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship stands as a globally renowned submission grappling competition, orchestrated by the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC). The inception of this tournament was back in 1998, amidst the vibrant backdrop of Abu Dhabi, UAE. With a biennial cadence, the ADCC Championship has been a regular occurrence, save for a pause in 2021 due to the sweeping impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Countries that have hosted this event include Brazil, China, Finland, Spain, the UK, and the US.

Participants are granted entry into this tournament through victory in ADCC trials or by invitation. While the majority of contenders originate from the competitive sphere of IBJJF Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the doors are open to talents hailing from diverse grappling disciplines. The grand stage for the 2022 iteration unfolded at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, where a crowd of 13,000 fervent fans gathered.

The ADCC holds an esteemed position as the pinnacle of accomplishment in the domain of submission grappling. Often hailed as the “Olympics of grappling,” this championship transcends boundaries to symbolize excellence and honor within the grappling community.
